Museum Overview

The Cumbria’s Museum of Military Life is located in Carlisle in Cumbria. It is located on the site of Carlisle Castle. You can purchase a combined castle and museum ticket or you can purchase a ticket just for the museum.

Inside the museum tells the story of the county’s Infantry Regiment and its soldiers past and present. The museum has been located at the Castle since 1932 and moved to a new building in 2014. Their items are now displayed more effectively.

You can see uniforms, medals, weapons and more as well as interactive displays and dioramas. The exhibition features a First World War trench environment, immersive audio/visual displays and an interactive trail for young people.
